Welcome to the home page of the Cellular Architectures Research Group (CARG).

Our research is centered around bio-inspired hardware and more particularly on the development of massively parallel computing architectures inspired by the structure and operation of multi-cellular biological organisms. Through this approach, we aim at designing novel bio-inspired computing machines and programs inspired by Nature and endowed with capabilities such as adaptation, evolution, growth, healing, replication, and learning. More details on our activities can be found in the Research pages of the site.

The group was officially born on October 1st, 2003, thanks to a Young Professorship Award of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF) granted to Prof. Gianluca Tempesti. The group was hosted within the Logic Systems Laboratory of Prof. Daniel Mange until August 1st, 2005 and is part of the School of Computer and Communication Sciences of the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland.

Please enjoy our site and don't hesitate to get in touch with us!
